I am a very dedicated viewer of The Bachelor on ABC. And even though I didn’t particularly like this season’s bachelor, I was impressed with some uses of social media from outside sources during the season.
My favorite use was The Frisky’s Liveblogging of every episode. Frisky blogger Amelia gives her funny and entertaining thoughts as the episodes are going on (It would cool if she did it through Twitter, but I guess a live blog will work).
My favorite ”live blogs” from last night:
10:00 Also, WHAT am I going to do with my Monday nights now that The Bach is over? I mean, the possibilities are endless!
10:09Eeek! We get to find out who the next Bachelorette is going to be!Who do you think it’ll be? Jillian? Eyebrows? Melissa?
A lot of other news outlets have been live blogging The Bachelor, even the Chicago Sun-Times. Even ABC’s website has a blog called he said/ she said which chronicles both the male and female point of view on The Bachelor.
I’m not surprised to see so much social media action, especially since Monday night’s bachelor season finale had 15.45 million viewers, according to Neilson. However, I think there is a real opportunity for other tv shows and stations with less viewers to use social media in the same way to attract more viewers.
Do you have an ideas on how social media could better be integrated with television?
