Last week Facebook edited their Terms of Service agreement and now anything you upload to your Facebook page is now entirely owned by Facebook.
According to the Consumerist, “Now, anything you upload to Facebook can be used by Facebook in any way they deem fit, forever, no matter what you do later. Want to close your account? Good for you, but Facebook still has the right to do whatever it wants with your old content. They can even sublicense it if they want.”
User generated content is the greatest thing in the world, and I guess I always assumed that anything I put on the internet was free game but SERIOUSLY?! I think these new TOS are taking it just a little too far. Facebook now owns all of the photos I have ever taken (so much for privacy settings) and thank goodness I don’t feed my blog in to Facebook notes because then they would own all of my ideas too.
I’m really disapointed in the way Facebook has tried to trick their users into this agreement, the least the could have done is have all users agree to the new terms of service or allow them to deactivate their accounts before it went into effect.
I don’t like this Facebook, not one bit!

I have been reading about this and I am not happy about it!
Way to increase you cred by showing the darker side of facebook. Did they learn nothing from beacon? I can’t wait to see how the geek mass responds at SXSW!
Have you lived in a cage, as soon as you place any idea into a public median you have lost control of it. In fact that is the point of putting it in the public. So others can see, read, expand on it? That is the reason social networks exist to share content. your or someone elses. Sure its nice to give credit to those who have influenced your opinion, but we are far past high school book report where we have to cite every sentence we have written.
