I am not a Millennial-- actually an GenX'er. Having a few younger friends I've become very interested in what makes them tick... why they/you guys are they way you are as a group. I've found the generational differences so vast. Read below what I found from a study (http://www2.honolulu.hawaii.edu/facdev/guidebk/teachtip/GenY.htm)

"Many of the parents of Gen Y's are mid-life Boomers, used to winning and achieving. Gen Y members have come to age in a very child-focused world. Many of them had Boomers as parents, and Boomers are as competitive for their children as they were for themselves. Boomers are used to getting their own way, and they have been strong advocates for their children. Because Boomers have worked long hours, because of many single parent families, because of an increasing violent world and because of the desire for their children to "get ahead," Boomers have made sure their children participated in all forms of lessons and activities. Thus, Gen Y has grown up in a very structure, busy and over planned world. Also, Gen Y is made up of confident, optimistic young people who feel valued and wanted."
"Having spent a large percentage of time in structured activities, they are accustomed to having a lot of adult supervision. Thus, they may have poor conflict resolution skills. "
"A closer sphere of influence - a more dangerous world has created an environment which is more sheltered and structured, and where young people have been protected."

Elenore, it does make a lot more sense to describe millenial dates as starting in 1978 than it does to say they begin after 1980(one thing you didn't mention was that the "baby bust" typically ended in 1977, and the following year saw the annual birthrate just start to increase). However, I think that ANYONE can be a millenial (even a 60 - year - old) if he/she is tech - savvy, open - minded to ALL kinds of diversity, and into the latest music and entertainment.

Even today my parents want me to live near or with them,I am married with kids,my older siblings get nothing from my parents but lectures,I get calls everyday because my parents have a friendship, and my younger siblings get calls because my parents still check up on them it's strange to me that Boomers still parent each age group as adults they way they did as when we were children.
