Facebook is my favorite social networking platform. So when Mashable broke the news this morning that Facebook is testing out Facebook Lite, I knew I wanted it (even if I don’t really know what it is).
According to Inside Facebook, it is a faster, simpler version of Facebook. A lot of people are saying that it looks very much like a Twitter/Friendfeed/Facebook combination. The profile page is a lot cleaner, and looks very similar to a Twitter feed.
The question is, will Facebook users like the new design? Or will Facebook see the same outrage they saw with new Facebook?
Whatever the result is, I want to try it! But, I was not selected to be a beta tester. So I guess I will just have to wait.

I think Facebook Lite is aimed at countries like India and China that have a slower internet connection- Indian users were some of the first to beta test it. I think Facebook Lite would also work great on Blackberries and stuff- I know there is a FB application, but its slow and you can’t reply to messages, etc.
I hadn’t heard that yet, but it’s very interesting! I would love a better FB application for my blackberry.
Let me know how it goes, Blake. In the meantime, I will continue to use the ideal platform for byte-sized updates in real-time.
One day I know you will convert!
Have you tried signing up at Facebook and setting your country to India? That’d probably give you the beta…or at least speed it up!
